Christopher N. Hamlin dies of injuries from I.E.D.

An Eastern Kentucky community is trying to come to terms with the death of a soldier from there.

24-year-old Staff Sergeant Christopher Hamlin of Laurel County was killed last Friday in a roadside bomb attack.

He was on his third tour of duty in Iraq and just weeks away from coming home on leave.

His grandmother Zola Hamlin talked to Chris just three days before he was killed.

Chris grew up in London, he ran track, played basketball, and spent time working on his car.

And like a lot of guy's in small town Kentucky, he loved to hunt.

Chris' stepfather Otis Johnson says he was such a good shot, he joined the army right out of high school and became a sniper.

Chris Hamlin was stationed out of Fort Hood Texas, he will be buried at his family plot in Laurel County.
